Jeffrey Roth is a Partner at Bruin Sports Capital, where he serves as the company’s financial, strategic and deal lead. A highly-accomplished M&A, business development, and finance executive, Roth brings vast experience and a nuanced perspective to the dynamic sports, media, technology and entertainment landscape. For Bruin he is responsible for leading acquisition processes including structuring and negotiating terms, financial analysis, due diligence, coordination with third-party advisors and assisting portfolio companies with strategic and financial matters.
He is a founding member of Bruin and has played a critical role in the company’s fundraising and subsequent financial growth. He plays an integral role in all of Bruin’s acquisitions, and continues to shape and execute Bruin’s strategy of identifying, acquiring and growing under-developed businesses. Today, the Bruin portfolio spans 29 offices in nine countries with 1,200 personnel. Since launch, it has completed 10 acquisitions and led the early stage funding of 21 technology ventures with follow-on rounds to 19. In recognition of this work and his leadership, Roth was named to Sports Business Journal’s prestigious 40-Under-40 list as well as Leaders 40 list of the sports industry’s best young talent in the world.
Before Bruin, Roth was a Vice President at Allen & Company where he advised media, entertainment, technology and sports clients on mergers and acquisitions, capital raises and strategic initiatives. His clients included Time Warner, Netflix, Samsung, Mark Burnett’s One Three Media, Intel, Fullscreen, CyrusOne, Samsung, TrueCar, and Chernin Entertainment. Roth began his career in the TMT investment banking group at Citigroup, where he worked on large-cap media and entertainment transactions such as Sony’s acquisition of Bertelsmann’s stake in the Sony BMG joint venture and Time Warner’s spin off of Time Warner Cable.
Roth holds a B.B.A. in Finance and Accounting from the Ross School of Business at the University of Michigan. He currently lives in Old Greenwich, Connecticut with his wife and two daughters.
